Hello, I’m Mallika. I was born and brought up in New Delhi, India but I currently live in Albuquerque, New Mexico with my husband and two cats. I am an economist and work with data, computer codes and public policy all day, every day. Cooking is my creative outlet. I started this blog to document successes from the many food and drinks experiments that happen in my kitchen but about which I inevitably forget, making it impossible to recreate them.
I’m all about enjoying tasty food while keeping it healthy. For me, that means balancing calories and sticking generally to a low-fat, high-carb vibe. No keto here—I’m all about embracing my love for bread, rice, potatoes, and fruits. That doesn’t mean that I do not indulge in some high-fat delicacies every now and then! Keeping it balanced is the name of the game!
I was raised by my Bengali mom who taught me the nuances of cooking, roasting spices and finishing touches. She insisted that food is an experience where not only the quality of ingredients and the cooking process matter, but the presentation is just as important. Food to me is more than just a meal; it’s an experience that brings everyone together.
But here’s the twist: This blog isn’t just about recipes. Alongside my culinary adventures, I’m diving into the latest economic research, breaking down complex concepts, and giving you an economist’s take on current events. Stick around, and let’s explore the worlds of food and economics together!
